He was the Mayor of Klerksdorp’s Matlosana Local Municipality, from May 2012 to June 2013, and a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Local Government and Traditional Affairs in the North West provincial government.
Dodovu is a member of the African National Congress and served as the party’s North West Deputy Provincial Chairperson from 2011 to 2015.
Dodovu has a Master degree in Public Administration from the University of Stellenbosch, and a Master of Science in urban housing management from the University of Lund in Sweden.
He joined the regional leadership of his political organisation, the African National Congress (ANC), in the newly formed North West province, back in 1990.
China Dodovu was also a Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2006. He was the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana Local Municipality in Klerksdorp and the Regional Chairperson of the ANC’s branch in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality, in 2007.
