Elias Valtonen, a professional basketball player for Baxi Manresa of the Liga ACB, was born on June 11, 1999. Elias represented the Arizona State Sun Devils in collegiate basketball. Valtonen, who is 2.01 m (6 ft 7 in) tall, is a shooting guard.
At the age of 14, Valtonen made his professional debut with Korihait in the Korisliiga, the top league in Finland. In total, he appeared in five games during his rookie campaign, in which the team lost and was relegated. Valtonen relocated to Helsinki in the summer of 2015 to play for the esteemed academy squad HBA-Märsky, led by former NBA player Hanno Möttölä.
Valtonen was invited to the Jordan Brand Classic Camp in 2015. Valtonen has been recruited by several American institutions, including Illinois, Arizona State, Arizona, and Utah. On October 13, 2017, Valtonen declared his commitment to Arizona State once his current season in Finland ended.
Valtonen attended Arizona State University for two seasons. On November 23, 2019, Valtonen set a career-high with 10 points in a win over St. John’s. As a sophomore, he averaged 2.0 points per game. Valtonen confirmed his departure from Arizona State on March 17, 2020.
