She woke up and, according to Sagawa, pushed him to the ground, thwarting his plan to cannibalize her by chopping off a portion of her buttocks and slipping away with a little portion of her flesh.
Sagawa did not reveal his genuine intentions to the authorities before being apprehended by police and charged with attempted rape.
Sagawa relocated to France in 1977 when he was 27 years old to seek a Ph.D. in literature at the Sorbonne in Paris. According to Sagawa, “almost every night I would bring a prostitute home and try to shoot them, but for some reason my fingers froze up and I couldn’t squeeze the gun.”
