She founded her own running business in the Richmond, Virginia, area in 2022, where she lives with her spouse and two children. “I feel like I have nothing to lose,” D’Amato said of her return to competitive running. Outside of this, I have another life that is very important to me. And I believe that allows me a lot of leeway to take risks without fear of failure. Everything I wish I had done in round one is now being done in the second phase. I’m taking it very seriously, but I’m also having the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”
