Muhammad al-Zawahiri graduated from Cairo University with a degree in medicine and a master’s degree in surgery and was a surgeon by profession.

Umayma Hasan was the wife of Muhammad al-Zawahiri. Muhammad al-Zawahiri had 7 children. Muhammad al-Zawahiri’s held significant sway over the group’s operation which was a close associate of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Muhammed al-Zawahiri merged the Egyptian Islamic Jihad with al-Qaeda in 2001 and in 2004 formally became Osama bin Laden’s deputy.

According to report, Muhammad al-Zawahiri was killed shortly after 6:00 am local time in an early-morning drone strike conducted by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in the upscale Sherpur neigbourhood of Kabul.
