Judd had suffered from depression for a long time. Her depression worsened a decade before her death, accompanied by anxiety, panic attacks, and suicidal ideation.

The medications Judd was prescribed, including lithium, caused him to experience emotionally painful side effects. Among the symptoms were facial edema, alopecia, and tremors.

At the age of 76, she committed suicide on April 30, 2022, near Nashville, Tennessee. Her daughters used Twitter to announce her death, and this is what they said: “For our sisters, today was a tragic day. Due to the disease of mental illness, we had to say good-bye to our lovely mother.”
