Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna Jr., better known as Nikki Sixx, was born in San Jose, California on December 11, 1958. His father, Frank Sr., abandoned the family soon after, and Sixx was raised by his mother, Deana, and grandparents. Sixx attended seven schools in 11 years due to various moves. Nikki Sixx was expelled from school while residing in Jerome, Idaho, for selling drugs, and as a result, his grandparents sent him to live with his mother in Seattle. Sixx developed a passion for music, starting out with a stolen guitar before switching to bass. The budding musician relocated to Los Angeles when he was 17 and worked odd jobs while going on band auditions. He changed his name to Nikki Sixx at this point.
