Charlene Murphey, 75, was hospitalized to VUMC with a brain bleed in 2017. Murphey was claustrophobic, so an intravenous sedative called Versed was given to her in preparation for a PET scan.
Vaught accidentally administered another medicine, vecuronium, a paralytic.
Murphey succumbed to her incapacity to breathe. Vaught had no past medical history, was upfront about the mistake immediately away, and expressed sincere sympathy to the family.
