Toni Collette is in a tight spot in Mafia Mamma. Bleecker Road dropped the impending satire’s red-band secret trailer on Friday, giving a first look at the narrative of “an unreliable American lady who acquires her granddad’s mafia realm in Italy,” as per an authority summation. Collette, 50, stars as the lady being referred to, Kristen.

“Directed by the company’s trusted consigliere (Monica Bellucci), she divertingly overcomes everybody’s presumption, including her own, as the new top of the privately-owned company,” the rundown adds. The movie is coordinated by Catherine Hardwicke (Sundown), and composed by Michael J. Feldman and Debbie Jhoon. Collette likewise fills in as a maker on the venture close by Christopher Simon and Amanda Sthers. The trailer starts with Kristen conceding via telephone that she didn’t actually know her granddad who died.

Yet, soon, at a companion’s consolation, she’s on a plane to Rome, unwittingly venturing into a universe of brutality.

“What … the f- – – … is going on?!” an unnerved Kristen asks Bianca (Bellucci, 58) while escaping from the activity in the secondary lounge of a vehicle, as a shades clad Bianca looks on passively.

Following a few beginning waverings and obstacles, Kristen appears to embrace her new life and obligations after she is told by Bianca, “You can’t take off from your predetermination.”

“I’ve been here two days and I’ve been nearly killed two times — that is one every day. I will require much more sex to quiet me down,” Kristen says toward the finish of the trailer.

Collette and Bellucci are participated in the cast by Giulio Corso, Francesco Mastroianni, Alfonso Perugini, Sophia Nomvete, Eduardo Scarpetta, Tim Daish and Tommy Rodger.

Mafia Mamma is in theaters April 14, 2023.
