TRIBUTE BY GRANDCHILDREN in Ghana Examples

TRIBUTE BY GRANDCHILDREN (Example 1)

If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Romans 14: 8

Today, we are very sad as your Grandchildren to bid you farewell. Even though we are yet to know you more, our parents have told us a lot about you. Your labor, sacrifices, love, advises and the support you gave to our parents was unmatched. We have heard how you struggled to look after our parents and today we are benefiting from your hard work and investment in our parents.

As young as we are, we have realized your desire to see us always in good health. Even though you could not talk in your last years, anytime we visited you together with our parents, the first sign you would show by your hands, was to ask of our health. Oh! Who will ask of us again like you have been doing regarding our health?

Little did we know you will leave us soon, in our hearts, we were only praying to God to grant you long life so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Oh! Grandpa, we will forever miss you. May the good Lord receive you in his bosom, Amen.

The sudden death of our dear grandfather has brought us to the understanding of what Paul says in Philippians 1:21 that “for me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” O Papa, we miss you so much. The Emptiness of the space you have left in our lives is so deep. You left without saying goodbye. For this reason, we console ourselves that because you lie in the bosom for the Lord, we shall see you again. Granddad, you were a wonderful living experience. To us your grandchildren, you were a grandfather, a mentor, a counsellor and a pillar of support.

So strong and certain was your hand in showing us the way. We grew up thinking that every grandfather was like you. But we discovered in conclusion that there were grandfathers, and there were indeed grandfathers. Your rich experience of life and its different cultures filled our home with exotic stories. This ensured that we constantly gathered around your feet. All grandchildren love stories, and we were no exception. Our ears tingled, our heads stood on, our noses twitched, and our eyes stayed wide open for your thoughtful stories. In paying tribute to our grandpa, we sincerely wish to praise the name of our Lord God Almighty for a wonderful grandpa. We will remember you always and your memory will bring refreshment to our hearts and strengthen us in times of trouble. Grandpa, your grandchildren say: Rest in perfect peace. We will one day meet you in heaven.

“The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.” Isaish 57:1

They say you can see someone just now and the next moment they just disappear. We used to laugh at such sayings because we never understood it until it happened to us.

We never imagined seeing you and within the next moment you are laying lifeless. Your news shocked us to the core because, I saw you getting better, full of life and joy. Little did we know that, you will leave us so soon.

Daduida as we named you; who will welcome us so lovingly when we visit your home again? Who will we watch our favorite TV shows with? Who will we have our little dance competition and shows with? Who will help us do our home works especially mathematics? Who will read Bible with us and explain it to us?

Who can replace the delicious meals you prepare specially for us? Who will hug, kiss and smile to us saying “I miss you”.

Daduida, our beloved grandma, there is no one to check up on us from our mum if we are back from school safe and early.

Our beautiful grandma, you left a huge hole in our hearts; no one on this earth can ever replace you. We e know you’re in a better place and most especially with our almighty father and grandpa.

We know you guys are together and will watch over us, protect us and guide us like angels.

We thank you for teaching us to be neat, kind, respectful and most especially to love God.

Darling grandma, we miss you, your foods, your hugs, your kisses and most of all your smile. We will also miss you dropping and picking us from school.

Grandma! Grandma! Grandma! You will forever remain in our hearts. Till we meet again, it’s a good

bye. Rest in Perfect Peace.

M rs. Patience Yawa Ananga affectionately called “Dada” our grandmother was a very simple and disciplined woman. Dada was interested in all her grand children with no discrimination. She always taught us to put our trust and hope in the Lord, Dada cared for our meals. She used to tell us stories about her youthful and olden days. Dada was strong and strict but approachable and was always at our service without any reservations. When our parents were not around Dada took very good care of us. She was the last to sleep at home making sure everything was intact.

Indeed a mighty tree had fallen, a tree that

can never be replaced by anyone. Dada, your grandchildren will miss you but we are of the hope and consolation that we shall meet on that resurrection morning when the roll is called up yonder. We know you are not dead but sleeping in the bossom of the Lord. “We therefore console ourselves with what the Good book says in Eccl 3:3-6

66 A time to kill, and a time to heal, a time to break down, a time to build up…..” there is time for everything under this earth. You shall forever be remembered by us.

From all your grandchildren we say;

Grandma

Rest in perfect peace!

Damirifa due!

Dada hede nyuie”
