Where can you find Basalt?
There are multiple sources of Basalt blocks:
Natural Generation
Basalt is naturally generated as pillars that are found in a soul sand valley or in basalt deltas where they are a part of the regular terrain and columns. You can find both regular and polished basalt in a bastion’s remnants. Smooth basalt generates as a natural part of the outer layers of amethyst geodes. Both polished and smooth basalt can be found in an ancient city.

Crafting & Smelting
Polished basalt can be made by arranging regular basalt in a 2×2 formation in a crafting grid or by cutting it with a stonecutter. Smooth basalt on the other hand can be obtained by smelting regular basalt in a furnace.
