Eric Robert Greitens was born on April 10, 1974) is an American politician, author, and former Navy SEAL who served as Missouri’s 56th governor from January 2017 to June 2018, despite sexual assault claims and campaign finance issues.
Eric Greitens was born and raised in St. Louis, graduating from Duke University in 1996 and receiving a PhD as a Rhodes scholar from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, in 2000.
During his four missions as a US Navy SEAL officer, he rose to the rank of lieutenant commander, led an Al-Qaeda-targeting team, and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
After serving as a White House fellow, Greitens founded The Mission Continues, a charity that assists veterans.
In 2013, he was included in Time magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most powerful people.
