Linda Carol Brown (February 20, 1943 – March 25, 2018) was an American education equality activist. Board of Education as a schoolgirl in 1954.

Brown was in third grade at the time and wanted to attend Sumner School in Topeka, Kansas.

Her admission was refused due to her race.

Her lawsuit against elementary school segregation was eventually successful, and the resulting Supreme Court precedent overturned the separate but equal’ doctrine established in Plessy v. Ferguson.

Brown went on to become an educator and civil rights, activist.
